Raskin Calls for Visionary Investment in Purple Line and More Mass Transit Solutions

Jamie proudly signed the "Save Our Climate" banner in support of the Coalition to Build the Inner Purple Line. His signature was one more expression of his passionate support for smart growth and his commitment to finding creative and effective solutions to District Twenty's nagging traffic problems.

The rally was held to honor Al Gore, the keynote speaker at the American Film Institutes SilverDocs Film Festival, and his passionate drive to reverse global warming. Various organizations used the rally as a call to action and a warning to government officials to invest in the transportation projects that will make life better in the short run and save the planet in the long run.

"Twenty years ago our community leaders made a visionary investment in public transportation that we are still reaping the benefits of today," Jamie told the crowd. "Now is the time to make more public investments in improving transportation– in the Purple Line, in rapid buses, and in a new type of politics." The sea of Raskin signs and T-shirts waved as fans roared their approval. Team Raskin was the most heavily represented campaign at the event.
